Many Moments of Marital Bliss

Hello All!

Happy Friday. I hope that the rain is not getting any of you down. I just arrived at my parents house a couple of hours ago. Just before that I dropped Doug off at the airport so that he could see his wonderful parents (and sister) too. I am sure Doug's weekend will eventful and a much needed respite before what my Grandpa, Bompy, has fondly named W-Day. Just an FYI for all of you out there, Bompy is a miliatry man. Yes, start laughing at that reference. This weekend, I know, will be incredibly busy in the Kaelberer household. My mom already started early with my fabulous church cherubs today. After a five hour event of reviewing the reception site, going over table settings, decorations, food, set-up and so much more, the ladies were still as willing as ever to help in any and every way possible! I can never say enough thank yous to Cheryl Smith, Diane Kline, Susan and Judy Parker, Carla Del Rio (and of course so many more who are going to help on that day).


Most of you do not know this. A very nice woman from Style TV contacted us at the prospect of hosting our wedding on their show "Who's Wedding is it Anyway?" While the thought of having our wedding televised was fun, we decided against it in the end. But, boy, would our wedding set-up proven to provide so much entertainment for viewers. These ladies (and anyone else that we can enlist to help) will only have an hour to set up the reception hall. We are projecting a guest list of about 225 (get those RSVPs in!!!). These ladies are absolutely amazing. I have no doubt that all of it will get done and with style and grace. All I know is that we could not pull off our big day without these ladies! Also, I need to send a huge shout out to the mother of the bride! Thank you for your tireless hours to make sure that all of my dreams are coming to a perfect fruition!


On a side note: If there is anyone else who would like to help these wonderful women out on the big day, please e-mail me and let me know!


Look out for pictures. We are having a huge (or I guess more of a follow up meeting) after church on Sunday. I will be taking pictures of all of these wonderful ladies. I will update this post with pictures on Sunday or in the beginning of the week.

Dear Family & Friends,

I titled this post, "The couple that stays together...". Im sure you noticed the ellipses. While the cliche goes "the couple that stays together prays together" or "plays together" I just simply cannot reduce the meaning behind those words to that simple statement. Thus, with this verbose opening, I would like to introduce our marriage counselor, Pastor Darin Stone. He is making sure that we have all of the Biblical (as well as personal) counseling that we need to make sure that we are honoring each other and our Lord in our marriage. We are so incredibly grateful to Pastor Darin for taking out so much time to meet with us. He sets aside times on his Saturday morning through Saturday afternoons to make sure that we are guided throughout this engagement process. What makes him so incredibly unique is that he is also going to continue to counsel with us after the marriage! We are so INSANELY blessed to have you. God is doing so much in us through him.

Some info on Pastor Darin: Pastor Darin is married to a wonderful woman, Rebecca. They have one daughter. Her name is Sarah. Pastor Darin works as an associate pastor at the church we attended when we lived in San Diego, Harbor Presbyterian Church. He is college ministry Pastor. He is an excellent preacher and teacher. What we love the most about Pastor Darin his how real he always is with us. Pastor Darin has not only become a counselor and confidant, but a lifelong friend. Thank you for your counselor. Thank you Rebecca and Sarah for sharing your husband/dad with us. As a pastor's daughter, I know how it is to share! Doug and I APPRECIATE YOU!!!!!!!

Every wedding has very cute little boys and girls running around. Fortunate for us, our wedding is a kid friendly wedding, so we will have plenty of little cuties roaming the terrain! There will be two very special children present at our wedding, our ring bearer and flower girl! Here is the scoop on them (to make sure no perverts try to track down these little cuties, I am not going to use their last name nor tell where they are from):

Hello Family & Friends,

We have come to the end of the work week. This Friday brings 44 more days until the Wedding! At my parent's house it is WEDDING CENTRAL! If you were to walk in right now, you would see rows of bows and bells lying all around each room. If you did not know, the theme of our wedding is "Wedding Bells & Bows." These bells and bows will line the aisle of the church and be placed all around the church and reception area. We cannot wait for the big day to come and to get everything all set up!

Thank you to the coordinating team (Diane, Cheryl, Judy & Susan Parker, Kim Franzen, Carla Del Rio, Patti Guerra, Maletta Miller and Jill Haller):

I would just like to say a very big THANK YOU to my coordinating team! So many of the church ladies are all over it. We are going to be having a coordinating meeting next Sunday, January 27th after church. I look forward to working out/finalizing a lot of the details with you ladies. Im sure our team will grow. A special thanks to Diane and Cheryl who are heading up the food, Judy & Susan who are heading up the set-up of the reception hall! Ladies, we will pull it off in a hour. Kim & Karla who will also be on set up crew! Thank you ladies! Thank you to Patti and Maletta who will help with the ceremony decorations. We are so blessed to have you. You will really make the food flow!!!!!! Thank you Jillie for doing my make up and for helping out with all of the flowers!!!!!!! Thank you for your hard work!

Planning in the last week:
This last week and a half has been a pretty busy one when it comes to wedding planning. Saturday, January 12th we resumed our marriage counseling with a wonderful Pastor, Pastor Darin Stone. He is going to have a section devoted to him, so check him out! THANK YOU DARIN! You are amazing! Doug, my mom, Kawai, and I went cake tasting on Sunday, January 13th. On the 15th, I drove all the way out to the IE from OC to do a make-up session with my lifelong friend, counselor, role model and big sister Jill! It was such a FUN night! We hashed out so much stuff about make-up and flowers! Thank you Jillie! On Thursday, the 17th, Doug and I drove out to find the rehearsal dinner sight! We absolutely fell in love with the place! Well we havent finalized any plans officially, we are thinking our rehearsal dinner will be held at the very old world, posh restaurant, the Sycamore Inn in Rancho Cucamonga. Needless to say, Doug and I are looking forward to a weekend of relaxation before we go back to the work and wedding grind!
Cake Tasting:

We found our perfect cake. Doug isnt really a fan of cake. He would have sided on Dez and Charlie Dellinger's side with the brownies and ice cream (we almost did it), but then we decided that we just couldnt break with tradition. I am very excited at the thought of cutting our wedding cake with the knife set that Doug's parents cut their wedding cake! I already know that this day is going to be so incredibly special. Doug and I decided on two different flavors of cake. We chose the champagne cake with a strawberry soufle filling for the top and bottom layer and we chose a chocolate cake with bavarian vanilla filling. The icing is buttercream! The cake should be a delightful addition to our wedding!

As we are on the point of the cake, I would like to thank my mom for coming along. I would also like to say a very special thank you to you mom! You have been working yourself to the bone to make sure that I am having the wedding of my dreams. I know you are doing the meeting with the ladies before I am able to come. You are trying to make sure all of our guests will feel comfortable. You spent endless hours composing bows and bells. Thank you so much mom! We really appreciate you so much. Dad, we also appreciate you too and all the money, I mean support, that you are shelling out! I dont want anyone to feel neglected, because really, we appreciate you all: my mom, dad, Doug's mom, dad, and EVERYONE!!!!! But, back to the topic, Mom, Doug and I had so much fun cake tasting with you!

Why planning is going so well- Short Engagement!
We have put so much hard work into it, that of course, there will be the stresses of the wedding, but I must say, this will truly be my dream wedding! I have been talking at length with so many people. I am so happy that Doug and I decided on a short engagement. The planning processes hasnt been as agonizing as many people had warned. I am also so appreciative of all the church ladies who are helping out behind the scenes.

So all in all, the planning process has gone pretty smooth! Only 44 more days til the "Bells start ringing!" We are so excited to share this time with you!!!!! Stay up to date on all of the planning

As of Sept 2009- I am sadden that someone would write such a horrendous comment about my little sister on my own personal blog. When I search her name, unfortunately, that mean-hearted comment comes up. As her sister, I wanted to be sure that the record is set straight. 1- I feel extremely sorry for the young man or woman who felt the need to violate my personal blogging space. They were not invited, to comment. I don't even know that individual, and I think it is quite pathetic. 2- Clearly, that person does not know my sister. 3- That person does not know the understanding of love and forgiveness. For that, I feel extreme sympathy for that person, and I am praying on a daily basis for that persons soul. My sister asked for forgiveness from the offended parties. No other forgiveness needs to made, because she has made her peace with God, who is her ultimate judge. Beyond that, everyone needs to mind their own business. I love my sister. She is surrounded with love by others. I can see how even in spite of choosing a wrong path, that might cause another person to deeply envy her. In spite of her situation, she will ALWAYS be loved. I will ALWAYS be proud of her. And I will certainly ask God to deeply help that mean-hearted and mean-spirited person who wanted to launch evil attacks against my sister. She is beautiful. She is loved. She is forgiven. SHE is a child of God. God bless you sissy. We love you sissy.

Hello family and friends! Happy Thursday! I, Beth, am writing from one of my very favorite spots in the entire world- PANERA! I must admit that I am a little sad to be without my dear friend Beth (Ms. Vieira). Just a couple of months ago we would sit at Panera and grade our students papers. I miss you! But I digress! As I am sitting here in what Doug would call my "box" I wanted to share some wonderful pictures and info about our bridal party! We are incredibly thankful to have these people in our lives. So without further ado..... let me introduce our wedding party!

Bridesmaid: Kelly Fisher

Kelly is Doug's baby sister. Doug and Kelly have a very special relationship. They love to get underneath each other's skin, but it is all in lots of love. Kelly is probably one of the funniest people that I have ever met. Not only is she hilarious, but she is incredibly beautiful! I know that I am looking forward to her becoming my sister-in-law! I remember last Christmas when Doug and I were at their house for Christmas, Doug said "Oh no! I don't want you and Kelly to be friends." I said "Why not." He said, "Well, because you two are going to band against me." While, Baby, I will always be on your team, I am looking forward to the little battles that Kelly and I will pick with you! I love you both! Some other fun tid-bits of info to know about Kelly include the fact that she is an all-star basketball player for the Ohlone College basketball team. In spite of tearing her meniscus, she is still a toughy and she hits the court with 100 percent effort! Kelly also makes the best cookies in the entire world. I know that it was probably a joke, but when Rich said that Kelly should open up her own bakery and make cookies, I thought to myself "ID BUY HER ENTIRE SHOP!" I look forward to baking cookies with you, being your biggest fan at games, (one day I will show up in the brightly colored "I heart Kelly Fisher" shirt) and to being your sister in law!
Kelly, we love you! Thank you for being there and loving the both of us! We look forward to the memories we will build in the wedding planning process and the many more that will come throughout our lives!

Bridesmaid: Annie Small

Annie Small is my best friend and roommate from college. She definitely is always the life of the party. We probably had the best time any pair of best friends could have in college. I remember walking around campus with her 48 hours after we met. Everyone we talked to always asked us "Have you known each other forever." We would giggle and reply "We only knew each other for 48 hours." The next night we entered the Muir College karaoke contest and sang our horrible rendition of Elton John's "Can you Feel the love." We won the next two years after that (for worst performance that is). I could write forever about the many memories that we have built together. I am truly fortunate to have her as my best friend. She is what the young people would call a "clutch" best friend. She currently works in the Bay Area as an after school coordinator. She is in the grueling process of becoming a teacher. She will specialize in elementary bilingual education. For those of you who have not had the opportunity to meet her, she is a Spanish speaking genius! She taught at a language academy in Costa Rica and she is currently the voice on the caller system at the University of Costa Rica! Im not at all proud of my former roomie who used to wake up in the middle of the night and scream things to me in Spanish! Annie, Doug and I both love you to pieces. We both know that as we go through life you are a friend that we will be able to depend on until the day we die. We value you deeply and thank you for helping to make our special day so incredible. It just would NOT be the same without you.

Bridesmaid: Lori Hwangbo

Lori is my other best friend from college! I am so lucky to now live in the same vicinity as her! She is is one of my most trusted confidants. Whenever I have a problem or a bad day, I know I can just pick up the phone and call Lori. She always has great advice and she speaks the truth. The first time I met Lori was very brief. She was sitting in the B-house lounge with Adam Sloey and Adam Riva. The following day, Annie and I saw her when we were working out at RIMAC at UCSD. Lori immediately said "girls do you want to come over and hang out!" From that moment on Lori took us under her wing! She constantly drove us around places. She was my Bible Study Leader. I will never forget all of the times we would listen to (and sing) "Seabreeze" over and over again! As you can tell, she very quickly became one of my very best friends. She was actually the very first person I told about Doug. Doug had asked me out on May 11, 2005. I told him I had to pray about it. After I went to the sungod concert with her, I left her and went to my apartment. Literally two minutes later I called her up and said, "Lori, guess what I am doing? I am going to tell Doug that I do want to be with him and that we should give it a shot!" Nearly three years later, Lori has seen us through it all. She has been one of our biggest advocates. Before I even had any idea that Doug would propose to me I would call Lori and DREAM about marrying him. Thank you Lori for putting up with all the dream spewing, the wedding planning, and for seeing us through everything! I knew when we first met that you would be one of my bridesmaids. I am happy to see this day through with you! Doug and I both look want to thank you for being there for us. Thank you for always trying to mentor us and make sure we get the best that is possible. We are so happy to be in the same area as you and look forward to all of our future dates!

Doug's Groomsmen

Groomsmen: Steve D'Darrio

Steve is Doug roommate from college. He is also one of Doug's very best friends in the entire world. Steve has a very special place in both of our hearts. Steve is a little bit gansta, a little bit suave, and a whole lot of fun! Steve will be pimpin it at the wedding as Drew will be unable to make it to the wedding. Steve is going to be escorting both Kelly and Annie. Steve currently works for Enterprise Rent-a-Car in San Diego. He is pretty much one of the best salesmen in that business. I remember around the time that Doug asked me out was when Steve and I were just getting to know each other. We used to talk on AIM about God and life. I remember messaging him saying "I HAVE A DATE TONIGHT." I wouldnt tell him with who, but he already knew, because Doug was over earlier talking about a date that he was going on that same evening. Steve has been there for Doug and I in so many ways that we wish other people could do. That just goes to show how irreplaceable and truly special you are to us Steve! Doug definitely sees hanging out with Steve and the guys as a breath of fresh air. They are all such a fun group of guys that they really have some very special ways of allowing each other to forget the insane stresses of the world. Doug is so lucky to have such an amazing best friend. I will never forget the road trip I took with Steve up to Grandma and Grandpa Wright's cabin for Labor Day. I remember him telling me how he is Doug's "wingman." Thanks for putting up with all the crying on the trip down. You seriously are an amazing wingman! Steve, you will be one of those friends that we will have until we die! And ladies, I know you are wondering if he is single. Well, yes he is, but you will have to go through ME first if you want to get to him. He is one of my boys and I am protective of my boys (sorry Steve). Thank you Steve for being a part of our special day! We cant wait to see you Harlem shake on the dance floor!

Groomsman: Rob Bovino

Rob is one of those incredible unexpected blessings. Rob came to us from Dartmouth! He was on a Dartmouth exchange with UCSD our sophomore year of college. I think he had facebook me or e-mailed me about Muirons-4-Christ. I told him that we should meet up and go to church. He brought his wonderful friend Matt Prout, came to Muirons, and our lives were forever changed! He essentially became the glue of what Annie and I love to hear him call "The Gang" (he is so an east coast guy). He constantly planned things for all of us to do. It really was one of the greatest and most significant moments in our college lives. Rob was there the night that Doug told the guys that he liked me. We were all hanging out at Drew's beach house. The guys went out to smoke a cigar and he told them that night. After Doug and I got together, Rob was incredibly supportive and happy for the both of us. Rob is also one of my boys and he knows that any girl he dates has to get the Beth seal of approval! I got your back Rob. :) Fortunate for us, Rob did not go back to Dartmouth for good. He ended up tranfering to USC and now lives in Los Angeles. Trips to Rob's place always bring a good time. Doug will never forget all of the fun times with Rob and the guys, especially randomizers and, I think, what they call "air guitar"??? Rob, thank you for being a part of our special day. Thank you for also being such a significant person in our life. We know that we can always depend on you and it means so much to us that you will be there for us on our wedding day and throughout our marriage. We love you Rob!

The Groomsman MIA: Drew Heim

The wonderful guy in the middle is our very good friend, Drew Heim. Sorry for the group shot. This pic is just way pimp! Drew unfortunately will not be able to make it to the wedding. He is going to be on a stint with Campus Crusade in Australia. We are so proud of him and are so happy that he will be doing what God has called him to do! Quite honestly, Doug and I may have never become what we are today without Drew! Drew was the one who introduced us. Drew and I become very good friends our freshman year. He was living off campus for a while due to a house fiasco. The housing office called him one day and offered him a place in ERC (Eleanor Roosevelt College). Drew was a Muir student. To be housed in other colleges during Freshman year is often rare. Doug and Drew then become suitemates. Drew brought Doug to a church service we used to attend often our Freshman year, Flood. Beyond seeing Doug briefly in the Res Halls, that is the first memory I have of Doug. I remember Drew saying, "I am going to bring my friend Doug to church tonight. You should really be his friend." I totally wanted to be his friend from the moment I met him and the rest was history. Drew has essentially been our best friend from the beginning. Drew was a camp counselor with us at Arrowhead Lutheran Camp. We are so proud of him and all that he will do. When he gets back he will head off to seminary and be one of the best pastor's this earth has ever seen. Drew has some real talent and while we will miss him deeply, we are so happy for you. You will be with us in spirit (and in the form of a teddy bear) on the big day! Thank you for introducing us, for being one of our very best friends, and for being you! We cant wait til you get back! WE WILL BE PRAYING FOR YOU DREW!!!!! So, yes, I know this introduction has been a bit long, but this is our wedding party! Thank you guys for being there for us, for agreeing to support us on our big day. We couldnt imagine starting our new lives without you standing with us at the altar! WE LOVE YOU!!!!!!!!!!!
